Artist statement
Sorin Dan Cojocaru's work moves between multiple techniques searching each
time for the one that communicates better the concept: installation, computer
art or videoart, painting, drawing. He recreates using emblematic and easy to
recognize elements, through and in visual, his own speculations regarding
cultural and political generalities (globalisation, communication patterns,
logical fallacies, Game theory, moral dilemmas) or even isolated details of the
recent history (succession of institutions, interpersonal connections, internet
trolling).The forms got during the artistic process are meant to represent the
components of some codes, which, taken out of their particular context create
unusual situations or emphasize particularities and connexions otherwise
undetectable.
If initially, as a point of start in his artistic endeavour was the association of
different and various structures, later the artist debated the solidity of the
existing structure in itself. His work is a continuous passage from a theme to
another.
Sorin Dan Cojocaru was born in Bucharest in 1977.
He studied at UNA Bucharest, Accademia di Brera Milan and ADBK Munich. He
displayed in single or collective exhibitions in Milan, Munich, Valencia, Madrid,
Perugia, Paris, Reykjavik, Bucharest, Timişoara, Chişinău, Cluj.
His most representative artistic projects in recent years there are ”Okhlokratia”
- 2016, “Convex Instinct” – 2011, “Mexican standoff” - 2011, “The light`s
trafficking” - 2009, “What you see is what you get” - 2008.
